Wondercon 2018 Highlights
Last weekend, photographer Brian Sims, attended Wondercon 2018 in Anaheim. Brian acted as my eyes and ears on the various happenings at this event and here is what he has to share with us!
Wonder Con was shockingly void of Star Wars content and news this year. Other than the Her Universe presentation and the panel with E.K. Johnston, nothing of note came out of it.
Despite the lack of Star Wars news, the con floor did have booths set up from R2 builders, 501st, Rebel Legion and the Mandelorian Mercs.
There was also a Star Wars cosplay group picture that was set up by Brandon Jackson and included representatives from each of these groups.
Thanks Brian for the report from Wondercon!
I am a big Her Universe enthusiast and have quite a bit of pieces of Fangirl fashion. Below are some of the Fangirl fashion pieces that I enjoy wearing on a regular basis:
This selfie shows three of my favorite Her Universe pieces to wear to the office. The My Hero R2-D2 necklace, My Hero R2-D2 earrings, Empire Strikes Back Poster Tee and the High Commander Imperial Cardigan.
The other Her Universe Fangirl fashion pieces that I love to wear to the office is the Red Dalek A-Line Dress, which many people in the office call my lady bug dress. I pair this with the Union Jack Doctor Who Cardigan, which many of my co-workers believe is just a symbol of my love for England. That is only partially true, right?
When I am having fun, like I did at the Skywalking Through Neverland live podcast at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim, I usually pair my fun cosplay dresses with parry rival gear. As you can see from the picture above, I wore the Rebel Squadron X-Wing Dress with the Ahsoka Lives T-Shirt, in honor of #AhsokaLives day, and the Nerdist Ultimate Con Hoodie, which does indeed have some awesome pockets!
I cannot wait to find out what other pieces are coming out in the future, especially those related to Star Wars Rebels, Star Wars The Force Awakens and Doctor Who!
So what are some of your favorite Her Universe pieces?
Today is May The Fourth and to all of us Star Wars fans this day is now “Star Wars Day“.
Since this is work day, I will be wearing this Her Universe Star Wars outfit to the office.
I will be sending a Star Wars eCard from Hallmark to my friends and family via Facebook and Twitter.
In addition, I will be listening to the Star Wars Audio Drama, Smuggler’s Gambit as I am driving to the office.
When I get home from the office, I will watch some Star Wars Rebels episodes that I saved on the DVR. I will also play with the Star Wars apps on my iPad.
So, what will you do to celebrate Star Wars Day?
Women and Her Universe
I observed that there were plenty of women attending Star Wars Celebration Anaheim. On Thursday afternoon, many of them gathered at the Her Universe booth to check out and purchase the latest Star Wars fashions.
I checked in with them on Sunday morning of the Event and many of the items that they had at their booth were sold out in ALL sizes including:
Just based in this response, there were plenty of women, including me, buying Star Wars related merchandise at the Her Universe booth.
You can check out the entire lineup of new Her Universe fashions from Star Wars Celebration Anaheim!
Her Universe is the vision of Ashley Eckstein, actress and voice of Ahsoka Tano in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and The Araca Group, a leading theatrical and brand management company. Founded by Eckstein in 2009, Ashley and Araca created Her Universe with the mission to create stylish, fashion-forward merchandise for female sci-fi fans. Her Universe is a place for fangirls to step into the spotlight and be heard, recognized and rewarded. The Her Universe goal, from the beginning, was to build the company into a stand-alone entertainment and merchandise brand and with the female audience for sci-fi growing dramatically in numbers and largely unnoticed until now, Her Universe is leading the way. Hoping to change the perception that science fiction and fantasy is just for the boys, Her Universe has joined forces with some of the biggest names in the sci-fi/fantasy world to create merchandise exclusively for female fans – both apparel and accessories for such well-known names as Star Wars, Doctor Who, Star Trek and Marvel. Ashley Eckstein has now become one of the leading voices for female fans while Her Universe is making fangirls “geek chic” from head to toe!
I love all of the Star Wars t-shirts, dresses and accessories from Her Universe that I have in my wardrobe. Many of these are coming with me to Star Wars Celebration Anaheim. In addition to wearing my Her Universe fashions at the event, I am also looking forward to seeing all the new Star Wars fashions at the Her Universe booth. Especially, this dress posted as a sneak peek on the offical Her Universe Facebook page.
Are you familiar with Her Universe? If so, what do you think of the Star Wars fashions? Are you looking forward to finding out what new items will be revealed at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim?
