A common anime or manga theme is for a character or a group of characters to be dropped or transported “Into Another World”. When this theme is used, the story takes place in that other world or worlds that the character has transported into. Below are a few anime and manga series that I have enjoyed that are based on this theme:

Title: Inuyasha

Premise: The story of an ordinary girl named, Kagome, transported unexpectedly through a well that leads into the feudal era, which contains demons and other magical creatures and characters.

Title: From Far Away
Medium: Manga
Premise: The story of an ordinary girl named, Noriko, transported unexpectedly into a strange and extraordinary fantasy world.

Title: Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle
Medium: Manga & Anime
Premise: The story about a group of adventurers, lead by Syaoran, who travel into many different worlds, some magical, to track down the remnants of a soul that have taken the shape of magical feathers.

Title: Kyo Kara Maoh!
Medium: Anime & Manga
Premise: Yuri Shibuya, a Japanese high school student from Earth, is transported into the Great Demon Kingdom through contact with water.
